Design

I offer a comprehensive and professional garden design service package and I am available to help clients with garden commissions throughout the design process from initial consultation to construction and planting and after-care and maintenance. My design work covers many styles and focuses on well-considered planting which balances structure, shape, colour, movement and I aim to maximise the interest a garden provides throughout the seasons. Below are some examples of my work and an overview of the design process.

01

Initial Consultation and Survey

To begin with, I visit the site and meet with the client to discuss their inspiration, vision and proposed budget for the project. Where the client is unsure of a budget I can help to give them an idea of general costs. I will create a project brief for the commission to take into account the clients planned use for the space and their budget, as well as their preferences for aesthetic choices such as style, shape and colour. I also include my quote for design fees with this document. Next, I conduct a full site survey to accurately map out the space and to include any existing features, trees and ascertain the current soil conditions on-site.

Concept Development

Once the budget, preferred style and function of the proposed garden have been established, I create a number of draft design concepts for the client to choose their preference. I can help with whatever level of creative input is needed. Using my experience I can help with inspiration for clients whether they have a clear vision in mind or whether they are looking for more comprehensive guidance and advice.

Final Design

Using the chosen design concepts I create an accurate, clear and concise 2D CAD visualisation of the landscaping and planting. The customer will be provided with the design, a planting plan, a plant list and a full quote for the materials, plants and labour. This clear and precise plan provides a clear foundation for implementation.

Implementation

Following the final design, I can source materials and plants from a wide range of local suppliers. I will either personally build and plant the garden or closely oversee a team for larger jobs. I recognise the importance of communication and I will be clear on the plan from the first spade in the ground to the last clean up at the end of the project.
