Chris Smith, RHS Level 2 (ACIHort)
I have been enjoying designing, installing and maintaining gardens for over10 years. Having initially trained and worked in garden installation and design in Vancouver, Canada, I have since studied with the University of Liverpool and the RHS. I am a qualified and experienced horticulturist and landscaper with a wide knowledge of plants and a specific knowledge of coastal, acid gardens and the unique challenges of gardening on the Wirral. I am experienced in maintaining soil and overall plant health and diagnosing and treating a wide range of pests, problems and diseases. I take great pride in maintaining numerous gardens for a number of homes, allotments and businesses in the Wirral area.
Amongst a number of other ongoing projects I am currently fully renovating and restoring a private 8 acre Victorian garden which once formed part of the Dawpool estate in Thurstaston.
Where possible, I try to recycle, salvage and incorporate pre-existing materials, plants and structures into my work. I always try to include pollinator-friendly and native species and I always aim to use locally sourced materials and plants where possible. I am also a passionate allotment grower and have a plot in West Kirby.
